No PCI slots?

I just ordered some parts for my franken-computer and a few of them came in today, including my motherboard and wireless/network cards as well. the only problem is that my motherboard has a definite lack of PCI slots for all of my shiney new hardware.

All I've been able to put together is my motherboard+ram, and the hard drive+ide cable+power.

So what's wrong with my attempted setup?

My parts:
  • RAM from an old gateway
  • Intel SU810 motherboard
  • Toshiba Atheros wireless card
  • Encore Electronics ENL832-TX-EN ethernet card
  • Apex power supply

I still have another stick of RAM coming and another motherboard (the current one was [i think] supposed to come with a riser card, although none came...), as well as my celeron processor.

One model that is going into the "dead letter office" apparently from the Intel support site.

That was seen when going for a look at the specifications.
 
I couldn't see what was on the link there since that must be in your shopping cart. You would have to post a product page.
 
Man that thing looks like to much trouble to fool with, go to a small computer shop and see if they might have a normal used board they would sell you. I built a computer for a friends son, hes just 9 and I bought a used old Socket A and a Duron 1.6ghz for 30 bucks. That would be alot easier than fooling with that.
 
The NLX mobo as shown would indeed plug into a riser card. Whether or not an Intel NLX motherboard will work with an NEC riser card remains to be seen.

Man, I haven't opened up my Pentium 1 DEC pizza box with its NLX motherboard in years, but I recognized the form factor right away! :D

A DEC pizza box? OvenMaster. I wonder what one of my old bosses would have to say about that. :P "he said what? :mad: Grrrr.."

I wouldn't be able to any riser card since a slot would be needed for the input or output jacks for either a sound or tuner card. Most of those see the cards mounted sideways. Some do offer 3 slots.
 
Thats a daughterboard, not a motherboard, it plugs into a main server board. Good luck with trying to run that

*EDIT* - and isnt that wireless card for a laptop...?
 
Yup- its an old board, and yes- that's a laptop card (I'm still looking for a miniPCI adapter). As you can probably tell, I am a 'hardware n00b', so that should explain some stuff :).
As for the riser card, here's the correct link (sorry about that last blunder :P ): http://www.alancomputech.com/203-00027.html (same link but it looks like an extra 'http://' found its way in the last one).

This computer is nothing more than an experiment to get me more up to speed in the hardware area, thus the old crappy parts. Anyway- that's a $1 motherboard, so we'll see how it does with the riser card...

I should get the riser card any day now, so I can post back when I do get it.
