No Response from Computer

So my AMD build won't start. I was at work all day and when I got back, I tried to turn on the computer and it wouldn't even respond from the power button. My brother was playing on it, but he said it worked fine while he was playing and turning it off. I noticed the reset switch connector was out, so I replugged that in and made sure other connections were fine, but still no response. The only other clue to the issue is that my brother said when he was playing WoW, he experienced a little lag even though FPS and ping were fine. He mostly referred to trade issues he was having, so I blame that on the server maintenance from yesterday.

Any Ideas? It's really difficult to work from having no clue what's just happened.
 
The next thing that comes to mind is the motherboard then. I guess you could test out the power switch by using a flathead screw driver to short out the pwrbutton pins to see if it starts up.
 
Now that CPUs have memory controllers built into them, there have been some issues with RAM. If one of your sticks of RAM is even slightly not functioning at spec, it could make the system not post. Quick and easy test is to power it off, remove all RAM and then power it on with one stick at a time and see if you can get it to POST.

Memory controllers being built into processors is still relatively new in the processor world, so some issues have been documents as far as I have read online. My CPU has a built in memory controller (I think) and I have not had issue with mine. However, I have definitely read about people who have online.

Try that out and see what happens.
 
Get this: Problem wasn't my computer... it was a bad port on the "surge protector" extension. I've been using that port for quite some time, I can't attempt to understand why it'd quit out so suddenly. Nonetheless, a simple switch fixed my problems. Thanks for your help guys and tlarkin, that last post was really well-written.
 
Well sometimes the power supply can cause the problems so make use of the quality product for power supply. The memory controllers being built into processors are new in the world of processors so because of this reason some issues can be arise by its users.
 
Well, another mystery solved. theres a power socket in my house where my computer refuses to turn on. everything else works.
