No sound after OS change on Dell 5100

Can anyone help?? I reformatted my harddrive and installed a legal copy of XP Pro on my Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop and now I have no sound. Any suggestions or solutions appreciated.

What OS did you have b4? And what sound card? It sounds like the sound drivers might be conflicting with XP
