NO SOUND !! help

I just build a new computer.
I am sure my mobo has everything

I am getting no sound.
I plug in the headphones and nothing.
I plug in the speakers and nothing.
Nothing in the front, nothing in the back.

What should I check first

I know this might have to do with the wires I connected to the mobo.
But before I take it apart, should I check something else.

Go to Control Panel>System, right click on it >Proprieties> Hardware tab> Device Manager. Make sure that all the drivers are installed and you have no yellow question mark on one of these. If you have, it means that you don't have installed a driver on that component. Search on the internet for the right driver which is compatible for your component. If you don't know the brand of the components and you don't know what driver should work, download Everest(its free) from this site: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181. Install it, open it and click on 'Computer' then on 'Summary'. There you have all the information needed, so you can find the right driver for you.

If you have all the drivers installed, then make sure that your speakers are correctly plugged, that you don't have selected "mute all" from the sound settings( Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Device>Volume tab)
Also, in the same place, but the "hardware" tab, you will see a list with all your devices. Click on all of them and look at their status. It should write "this device is working properly".

I have the speakers and headphones plugged in
But under sound it says "Not Plugged In" under both devices
The only thing that is listed as working is a "Digital Output Device(SPDIF)"
I dont' know what that is.

All the Drivers are ok, they all have a green checkmark on them.
And its not on mute.

I knew it had to be with the motherboard, this is a new build so I might not have connected it right.
Just so strange because everything else works perfect.
 
download Ac97 or the specific audio codec for your motherboard.

This same thing happens to me after reinstalls and stuff :D
