No Sound On Burning Video Files To DVD.

Using the Windows DVD Maker (Win7) I had always been able to burn video files to DVD disks. That is - before now. Very recently, I had to format my system due to problems that had been encountered, and my only knowledge at how to go about defeating them was within formatting. So I did that and, have since, had issues with burning video files to DVD. The files play just fine, when I access them from my hard drive, but it turns out to be a much different story in the aftermath of burning. I would love to get these files on disks, and hope that someone might have some information on what I might be able to do in order to achieve my aim.

Advanced thanks,
Nathan

Do you have an audio codec package installed ?

Are you choosing which audio codec to use during the burning process ?

Hi James.

I don't know anything about any audio codec packages, and had assumed that Windows would have automatically installed everything that would be needed for their 'default installed' programs to work. What confuses me, a bit, is that the Windows DVD Maker program had worked fine - video, as well as audio - prior to the recent formatting of my system. I don't recall installing anything extra, at that time, in order to have achieved that full functionality with that default program. But I really need to have that capability back. Would you mind directing me to just what I need to download, and install, for that to happen? It would really mean much.

Advanced thanks,
Nathan

James, I did download & install that Codec pack, but yet ran into an issue with the Windows DVD Maker. I received a totally different error message, and wish that I had written it down. But I did try (again) DVDSoft's 'Free Video To DVD' which put where I wanted to be. I just finished a copying process which gave me audio, as well as video. I really did like Windows DVD Maker better, because of the template options if provided. But, as they say - 'If you can't have it as good as you want it, get is as good as you can get it'.

Much appreciation,
Nathan

Motherboard drivers.

Hi. I did download the file from your given link, but it appeared to be more informational than anything else. Maybe I didn't get deep enough into it, but I didn't see any button by which to fix/correct anything that may have been determined to not be right. But I do thank you for providing it, and will delve deeper into it when I get back on my PC, tomorrow.

I havent given you a link mate. Please download PC wizard from my sig, install it and run it. Go to FILE, SAVE AS, click OK and then copy and paste the text out of that file into this thread. Then I will give you the required link.

So sorry. I had figured that the link in your signature was what you'd wanted me to aim at. That was why I had addressed it as something which had been 'given'. I will get the desired information to you, sometime later on today.

Always appreciative.

So if i understand you correctly, you used another program to create your dvd and it worked ?

Yes, James - that is correct. It was a freeware program, by DVDSoft, that kinda pulled me through. I will try the Windows DVD Maker again and, this time, grab a screen shot of that error message.

No dramas mate. This is almost certainly a chipset driver issue. Once you give us the PC Wizard report, we can direct you appropriately to the correct drivers needed.

The fact that both sound and video work fine with other programs seem to point that it maybe a problem with your windows dvd maker itself, try downloading a fresh up to date copy of windows movie maker.

James. I seem to be straight, now. I thank you for direction to that site because - even though it was for Windows Movie Maker - the download/installation of that software seemed to have corrected the issue that I was experiencing with the Windows DVD Maker program. I now get very good audio, along with the video. Thanks again, my friend.

Windows dvd maker & windows movie maker are really the same thing, windows movie maker is just the new version of dvd maker.
