No sound on new Laptop?!

I just got a 2nd hand laptop of a mate and i put a new version of Windows XP on it. I have no sound can someone help me?!
 
Did you install the hardware drivers?

What make and model is the laptop?
 
Sounds like drivers, yeah. Go to the manufacturer's site and they should have driver packages (Or at least individual drivers) there. Go to the control panel and find any hardware marked by a yellow exclamation point, these are the pieces of hardware you need to install.
