No taskbar?

Recently my taskbar has disappeared. It will show up as Windows is logging on, but as soon as I move my mouse towards it, it disappears and doesn't come back.

I already did all the spyware and virus stuff. Avast found 4 virii in the system32 folder (if it makes any difference) and supposedly moved them to the chest. I would have deleted them myself, but I didn't feel comfortable messing in that folder.

I have tried different themes

I have not installed any new hardware, and Netscape is the only software that I have installed in the past week

What could be causing this?

It isn't that. I would have known. :rolleyes:

And btw, I can access the start menu by pressing the windows key, if it makes any difference

Excuse me for being noobish...but registry editing is not something that I do much. :o Exactly what should I do with that key?

And I tried downloading the *.vbs file from kellys korner, and the taskbar blinked once, then disappeared.

Has anybody else been playing around on your computer? It sounds like prank software to me. Check your Startup folder for anything suspicious.

You go start run, type regedit.

Then the window opens up, follow the folder direcoty to here... [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile]

And on the window to the right make sure this value is correct
@="Application"
"EditFlags"=hex:38,07,00,00

Then restart the pc.

OK, the taskbar is gone again, and I think that it is related to this thread

Regedit does not work, the values are correct.

Any other suggestions?
