well i have been through three mobos, and two graphics cards. the last combo worked for a week and now there's no video comming out. i am certain the card works, and nothnig shorted. the mobo runs everything, and there is no onboard video. any suggestions?

Have you got a second PSU to try first? There may not be enough power to get the system working or it's a dud. If that doesn't work then the CPU is dead. Check the PSU and post back with the results.

methinks it is the mobo, because there is power to the top end (processor) and none at the pci or video card slot. if anyone is selling a 754 min mobo, or a amd dual core with matching motherboard, i might be looking to buy

What do you mean? How do you know the processor(or anything at that) is getting power? If you're referring to fans spinning or something, that doesn't mean anything.

Don't make assumptions. If the board has any power, components are going to get warm. Try another PSU, maybe even try some other RAM. Or even another processor. Are you sure the mobo is compatible and the bios is up-to-date for whatever processor you're using.

Don't think a computer or power supply is working JUST because fans spin and heat is produced. A fan will spin if it gets basically any voltage and amperage. A processor don't do squat unless it gets somewhere between, oh...1-2 volts :P

bought a motherboard processor combo and they worked. the bios wasn't working with the second mobo, same model ,and the third was working until i opened thee cd tray to install vista, then it sputtered and died. i really think it is the mobo, and if anyone can point me somewhere that would sell me a preferably amd dual core processor/mobo combo, or separate places to get both, i would love to hear from you. lol i have trued 2 different psu's that work and didn't make a difference. ram worked, and it would bee a little too expensive to just try to see if that is the problem.

What the make of the mobo you have?

no laughing.. it's an ecs with, http://www.clubic.com/shopping-115093-0-elitegroup-nforce3-a.html
also, the ststem, when paired with the second motherboard did not want to install drivers, even when i ran windows update. also said i had 256 mb of ram, but then had (2048mb) after it. confusing, i know. that is why i think i need a new system.

edit: 64 bit with no onboard video. i thought that was important

nope, i ghosted it and it wouldn't read discs and bios wouldn't change to read a the xp cd. wasn't a genuine copy tho. i tried close to 5 times

was running a 450 before all this started happening, i have used a 400 and another 450 for test and same thing happens

edit: does vista have 32 and 64 bit versions? if i ever get this computer running, i want to run vista
