When i connect my camcorder to my PC, it doesnt detect any video signal. Any idea what i could be missing?

If you are using a S-video to video adaptor you replaced, It may be an issue.

Well i have the ATI Driver installed.
All type of Video media, games etc play perfect so i guess from the video card itself, everything SHOULD be fine.
Is there like something i must enable on a new Windows Professional PC?

Card btw is a ATI Radeon X800 XT

Neither the Windows Movie Maker, Ulead Video Studio, or Pinnacle detact my Camcorder....

Some S-video to Video adaptors do not work with computer capture cards, your capture card will not detect any signal, if you are using a standerd S-video to video adaptor.

Do not ask my why.

-The card features a output for the Screen
-S-video from wich i know is in/out
-a special plug wich i have no clue what its for except that my Plasma flatscreen has the same plug....so.....

Also when i connect via Fire Wire etc the PC does not detect any signal, so does anybody know if i must set something up in my Windows options etc?

From what you're saying, you only have the standard card with only output. VERY few cards(if any) feature input/output using the same port...

Firewire should work no problem. 2000 or XP usally detects the camera as soon as it's plugged in. Perhaps you're not searching for a DV device with the capturing software? DV works completely different than analog inputs

Ok, i fixed the problem.

My Asus P5AD2 Motherboard does not support DV signal and i had to switch back to native 1394 signal decoder. ALL plugs work now, from S-video, to Firewire to red yellow white cable....they connect into my Radeon X800 XT except the firewire one

Thanks for your replies!
