hi all, i just cloned my hdd to a ssd windows 10 pro to replace the hdd and installed the sdd. when i started the pc windows wouldn't start. the tiny white blinking minus was in the left corner. i can go to the bios and get windows to run and things seem normal other than the start. what am i missing, any suggestions. in the bios i see the ssd listed twice with one having uefi with it. ssd the boot menu it looks to me like the drive that starts first has to be the one furthist right on the line. if i go into bios i see the ssd twice one with ufei which is in line to boot first. am i seeing things wrong. im not sure what the uefi is. i have an asus z78 motherboard. any help thank you. i thought that connecting the new drive to the same connections as the one that came out would keep the boot order the same

What program did you use to clone? I've had issues with certain programs. Try the free version of Macrium Reflect. Make sure you clone all the partitions on the original drive cause if you don't include the partition with the boot files you'll have a problem.

Which menu option works if you select the boot menu?
I'd just delete the one that doesn't from the UEFI menu.

i installed a samsung ssd 870 evo. i used samsung data migration. as it turns out i had the boot order wrong. seems things are ok now. i just hope that cloning windows is going to be ok. i hope its as good as a clean install of windows.

Providing you didn't have any issues beforehand, you should be okay. I did the very same thing for a client a couple weeks ago and it worked out well and there system was quite old.
