No Wirless Connections !!!!

Hi all - would appreciate your help if I could,

Usually, I don't have a problem, I switch on my laptop and it connects to the Wireless network in my house (BT Voyager modem) - Easy !!!. I sometimes click on the Wireless connections and I can see some of my neighbours including mine.

However, today I turned on my Laptop and it didn't connect and I clicked on the 'Wireless Networks' and it comes up with 'No wireless networks were found in range' !!!

Now I'm not good on computers or anything but I have restarted my computer a couple of times waited for a few hours and tried again, turned off the modem and turned it back on but nothing.

The strange thing is, we have two desktop PC's in the house running off the same 'Wireless Network' (BT Voyager) and they are still working fine, like they always have.

So whats wrong, why can't I get a connection on my laptop (or even see a network) ????? Your help would be great - thanks all and Happy New Year.

Did you make sure that the wireless card is turned on and that it's enabled in the Network Connections manager?

Thanks for the quick response Omega, I just went to get my laptop to check what you mentioned and it's connected itself and now they show the normal list under 'Wirless Networks'

It hasn't been able to find networks since this morning but can now - any idea why it would do that - a Hangover from New Years Eve maybe ?

Good to have an idea why it would not be able to find Networks for a lengthy period and then it can - weird.

Thanks very much mate

Strange - I've returned from work and turned on my Laptop and no 'Wireless Connections' can be found again !!!!!!!!!!

Anyone any idea why it can't locate 'Wireless Connections' until it feels like it ?

Cheers

no, normally I can pick up about 5 or 6 networks - also, I've tried it right near the modem and the desktops are still working off the same wirless network - thanks
