Heya guys, got a weird problem. I bought tomb raider legends today, got home turnt it on worked fine. I turnt next gen graphics on and now the computer makes a weird noise, kinda like a gerbil in a cage when scratching at the corners. If i go down the gfx options in the game and adjust different setting the noise will vary in speed and volume, the only time it is silent is when it is applying the settings and nothign is happening.

I have this problem when running the CPU tests on 3d Mark 06 - Every frame that is produced i get a noise.

Also this noise has only started happening since i upgraded my computer.

I don't understand what is causing this, what is there inside the comp that can make noises, it is not commin from the PC speaker.

Any help is needed, and much appreciated :)

Sounds like a fan problem, what did you upgrade?

I think its either the CPU, Mobo or GPU. Its unlikely its a case fan.

I upgraded the CPU from A64 3700+. the ram from 1GiG OCZ plat. EL. and the video card from 7800GT. At the main menu on TR:L with next gen settings enabled i can clearly hear the noise above all. However when i am playing the game with next gen settings enabled it is silent. I find it weird that i only hear the noise in the menu and on the 3d Mark 06 CPU tests.

I thought I read somewhere that the x1900's make noises...
My guess is it's the card. Try putting your ear right next to it.

next genenration setting in TR:L really needs a super powerful gpu, when i turn that option on it really kills my GPU.

I got my ear close and diasabled/enabled next gen setting and it does appear to be commin from the 1900xtx. You can hear it ever so faint when next gen is disabled but when enabled you can hear it alot clearer. A driver update has almost killed the noise. I'll jus have to keep a close eye on things.
