hey, so i have a Hp computer a1310n. bought it maybe like 2 or 3 years ago. As i remember it was very fast. Now its getting a little slow and i bet theres some viruses/adware/spyware on it.. can anyone tell me how to boot it back up to speed. I have a 200 gb hard drive along with an 80 and 160gb hard drives. I have 1 gb memory. I dont have much i want to keep on here. Just pictures, movies, songs, and a couple programs. Whats some things i could do to get this thing back up to speed??? thanks guys.. and does anyone have any good viruse removers or something you can tell or show me to help with some protection?? thanks guys i appreciate it..:D

just the fact that its an hp most likely is the reason why it is slowing down, the best way would probably to have a fresh install of xp/vista on it, if you currently have xp, i would recommend sticking with it, if you have vista, do a fresh install, and throw another 1gb stick of ram in it

Your computer might of came with a system disc. If it did, put it in the CD drive and boot up from CD. Then follow the directions. Basically you want to delete the partition on your hard drive (which WILL erase ALL data), then create a new partition and format it, then install XP on it. This is all basically automated so it should be pretty easy.

ok cool... so another question.. say i want to put in of these hard drives, so i could transfer my good stuff to it then take it out right before i pop that cd in and reboot everything.. so heres the question.. what ribbon cable and what power supply cable should i use and how to i get that hard drive to come up in my computer??? I can either use a maxtor or seagate. which ever one u guys perfer.. thanks alot.. You guys are a big help..
