I am only using my computer for watching online live hockey (nhl gamecenter live), every once in a while it will be choppy. I have an 8mbs cable connection. Will upgrading my video card help? What about more ram? I will list my system below.

Compaq D530u
2.8ghz P4 HT
512mb ram
Integrated Video Card
8 mps cable internet connection

it couldn't hurt to get more memory, especially if you're running vista. you can get 2gb kits fairly cheap. and a video card would be a great improvement over onboard graphics.

any upgrade to your comp wont fix that lag on live streaming over the internet. Being choppy is kinda normal when watching live streams

More RAM and a better video card would only really see massive improvement in gaming, he's having problems streaming video, so getting 200$ in upgrades might not be the best idea

My advice would be to let the video buffer for about a minute before watching it, so if you have a minor hiccup it wont screw things up as much

just go spend like 25 bucks on 2 gigs of ram, getting a graphics card would help but not really because your not gamming your just streaming video, so yeah dont waste your money of a graphics card unless you dont see improvment after the 2 gigs of ram, even then you will only need like a 20 dollor card to watch video well
