The motherboard I am buying suppurts ddr400 pc3200 ram. I see others w/ the same mobo running ddr 533 pc4200. how? :P

thats gotta be DDR2. i dont think anyone manufactures a DDR ram that can go that fast but i'm sure someone will correct me if they do

amd athlon boards do not support ddr2. look at ppl's profile or newegg for that matter there are ddr(1) rams with higher timings or w/e they are than ddr400/pc3200

DFI LanParty UT NF4Ultra-D, Athlon64 X2-4200
Kingmax 1GB PC3700
640GB [4x160GB, 7200, 8MB]
Leadtek 7800GTX 256MB

that is praetor's sig he has same mobo im getting but is using pc3700 ram

They do but sometimes it's due to cheating (i.e., 2T, increased voltages increasted latencies etc). Case in point DDR700 Although "533" seems very DDR2 ish :P

Ok thats a lie, i gave up trying to update my specs every other day - they change at least once a week :P but usually they orbit a certain spec right now it mostly accurate since i got my VC back (traded for X1800XL to OC for a bit) but the HDD config is so outdated ... bah whatever, PC3700 in my sig means the memory is capable of running at PC3700 spec (i.e., 232MHz, 466DDR) which means either brute force OCing the core clock to 232MHz or running greater-than-one dividers (which really should be called multipliers but that would cause confusion). Another way to do it is to brute force run 256MHz core and a divider if 12 :))
