i never installed an operating system before
i just installed Ubuntu OS on my computer now
im soo used to XP but im going to buy An OEM of it on tigerdirect.com

my question is can i install it on 2 different computers in my house

or do i have to buy 2

im just wondering if the product key will only work on one computer or sumtin

thanks

Dan

that really sux
im low on cash i was hopeing i could install in twice even though it says u can
cuz im building one computer and fixing another lol

can u buy an extra product key from mirocsoft instead of buying a whole new windows

the disk has no real value it's the key that does so you would have to pay the same amount for the second one as you did for the first.

Why not use the New xp your gonna buy on your new computer and maybe use Ubuntu on the other?

it is illegil to install windows on more then one computer with the same key

Not if you buy the license directly from Microsoft for 10-15 machines. Businesses buy corporate licenses for running MS products on over 100 machines. That's between you and Microsoft there.

There are plenty of Linux distros to choose from. The two main things about Linux are: 1) It's free! 2) It's an "open source" OS. When someone submits a new program or feature it can become a revised version of one of the distros. That allows for a larger range of flexibilty in programming. But it's not so great in the games dept.!

Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread here, it's just I don't want to create a whole new one and spam the board with such a basic question.

Is this statement true:

OsX in based on UNIX, which is a superset Vista.

Exactly what is a superset? From my understanding, it's just one package that contains multiple packages within. For instance Windows XP Professional is a superset of Windows XP Home edition.
