Simply, yes.

Pretty much ANY aftermarket cooler can handle the heat generated by the northbridge (of course, the little, flat coolers wont produce an improvement).

Remember to pay a lot of attention to the dimensions, making sure that this cooler wont interfere with your current set-up, physically.

A cheap alternative to an expensive chipset cooler is to direct a 12cm fan at the stock cooler. Does wonders.

Also, water-cooling memory is overkill. There is no need for that.

1) After-market cooling for ANYTHING is only needed when you are raising voltages, and the temperatures are sky-rocketing as a result.

Well... i know that the A8N-SLI had problems with failing chipset coolers at the start.. the A8N-E is the same board, so i can immagine it has the same chipset cooler,.. and he could have gotten one from that batch.
If your chipset fan simply stopped spinning.. sent a mail to the asus support, and tell them your problem ( perhaps include the S/N of your motherboard)
and i think they would send you a new chipset cooler.

zalman makes some passive northbridge coolers. i read up on some reviews and they seem to work pretty well. See if those meet ur criteria.

The chipset cooler on the A8N-E is quite different from that on the A8N-SLI or SLI Deluxe. They're not so prone to failure.

Why all copper?

The only all copper northbridge cooler has LESS surface area (only room for 1 40mm fan), and has 1 heatpipe (compared to the effectively 2 on the HR-05's).

The Thermaltake HR-05 and Thermaltake HR-05 SLI are almost without comparison. If you're up for it, you can mod a Zalman VGA700 to your NB too and thats a great solution

mean i'm going to but the HR-05 SLI but i wish it was all copper.
Yeah but if it's all copper then it wouldnt be nearly as good as copper has (roughly) 1/3 the heat capacity of aluminum (which is why you'll often find passive coolers are Al rather than Cu)

But with active coolers, they always advertize that its 100% copper etc, that would be because the Fan makes the heatsink get rid of the heat, and copper conducts heat faster than Al, right?

I remember reading that aluminium disperses heat better than copper (vice versa for absorbing heat).

Just ignore the material, and go for the best design. Or, read reviews of each product.
