Norton 2006 causes problems

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help.

Yesterday I loaded up a new software programme Norton Internet Security 2006. I bought this package because it was cheaper than the latest 2007 edition. I had problems with installing Norton 2006 as it kept overheating the pc and crashing it. Eventually after trying a few more times the software loaded but crashed the pc again during a scan. Today the pc crashes while I'm on the internet but I put this down to the hot weather even though fans are running. Sometimes Norton can't remember doing a system scan but after I restarted the pc Norton finally recalls doing a scan and says the result was "good". I had the pc off for a while then after switching it on an error pop-up saying a certain file couldn't be found (I don't know what it was). Also the mouse cursor moves slowly and it seems these problems have only occured since loading up Norton 2006. I use windows xp on a laptop.

What can I do? shall I uninstall Norton 2006? to me it appears as if the software has made the pc tired.

it wasn't actually norton that "overheated" your PC !! ;)
Get another Antivirus by the like of AVG,NOD32 or Avast.

Well I bought it at half price and it's no big problem there as I can get it updated in future. I've used Norton for years and yes I read the reviews about the 2006 version, but those are just mixed peoples opinions.

well here you'll find computer pro's, and nobody with a brain runs norton antivirus here. the people who would give it a good review like it because it doesnt need much attending to, which is the same with avast.

Hi,

Use the removal tool that has been given to you, then install an other anti-virus!
The 2006 causes a lot more slowness to your pc then the 2007. Proximately 46% boot delay. So, if you have a weak pc/laptop it will crash a lot.
