I just put a new copy of 2009 norton in it doesnt have a feature to do auto scan like 2008 i tried to use my windows task that didnt work is there a setting tab in the 2009 that im missing
 
I dont know I dont use Norton I don't use Norton I had some bad experiences with Norton I use freeware and like it much better try these

I must agree, norton is terrible, it used to be the best, but it has fallen. I recommend you change anti viruses, something like kaspersky IS 2009, u will find that it runs faster and DOES have an autoscan feature, either on startup, shutdown or a specific time!
 
Under “Computer” click “Settings.” Then under “Computer Scans” click “Configure.” Under “Full System Scan” click “Schedule.” There you can schedule Full or Quick scans anytime, but idle time scans won’t run.
