Norton Internet Security 2009 and Games

Hi
I know the new Norton is supposed to be the lightest ever on resources but there are some games that will crash and have access violations and stuff unless I disable the virus protection when playing...Is this normal for most anti viruses or just Norton and a few others?:eek:

Ps..Win XP....Intel 2.6 GHZ and a gig of ram..
 
It could be a multitude of problems, if you're using the free version of Norton i suggest switching to some alternatives such as; Avira AntiVir, Avast!, or AVG.
 
What do you mean? I have Norton Antivirus 2009, and the only instance I had an issue was when I was installing Crysis:Warhead. It detected a virus and deleted it. I'm still not sure what it was, but if it was SECUROM 7 then I'm EXTREMELY happy that it was delt with.

Besides that, I REALLY love it. It's always performs background checks, and supposedly updates every 5 or 15 minutes.
 
Personally i find Norton awful..I bought a 12 month License for Norton.. but after 2 months i uninstalled it an bought Kespersky!!
 
Just some general tips without knowing more about the system and the games your having issues with. Make sure your drivers and games are up to date.
 
I really dont use Norton since it always show such warnings like "access violation" etc.I think that you should switch to AVG since it never shows any silly warnings like this..
