Hey, I 've been a Norton user for quite some time and I am wondering If I get the AntiVirus, Internet Security, and SystemWorks all together, will take up a crap load of resources? And are any of these any good?
Yes its true that norton uses up a good amount of ram, but it is a very good program with updates that come out almost daily. It also has the best GUI that i've seen and is one of the easiest to work with.edifier said:If you had done any searching, you will see that norton has had an effect on many computers as far as slowing them down because of the resourses it uses. And having read many recent tests of detection rates, Norton is not at the top.The 3 best detection ratings belong to Kaspersky,F-secure and BitDefender. And all of these offer stand alone antivirus, or complete security suites.I am not saying your computer will become infected if you use norton.I'm just stating that your chances will decrease if you use one of the 3 i mentioned. And i haven't come across complaints about their resourses use.
I would get the whole suit, it is what I used. It takes up alot fo rescourses compared to otehrs, but its not really that much, its a great ainitvirus.Calibretto said:Hey, I 've been a Norton user for quite some time and I am wondering If I get the AntiVirus, Internet Security, and SystemWorks all together, will take up a crap load of resources? thats probably an opinion or something you looked up a while ago. or from one source. things like that change occasionally for new programs are always coming out. other says norton is top 3, others dont.. depends on where and when u look.edifier said:Kaspersky,F-secure and BitDefender. And all of these offer stand alone antivirus, or complete security suites.I am not saying your computer will become infected if you use norton.I'm just stating that your chances will decrease if you use one of the 3 i mentioned. And i haven't come across complaints about their resourses use.
I have downloaded things of off limewire, and nortan gives me a popup for it within secondss of the file download being complete.edifier said:Norton's average responce time to a new virus averages 10-12 hours.KAV is 0-2 hours and F-secure, 2-4.In a thourough testing done this month, one test involved using 1 month old definitions which simulates what happens when a new virus appears and companies include it in their definition update to protect your computer.KAV and F-secure scored near the top with detection rates of 55%.Norton's was only 22%.That's less than half and they take much longer to update their definitions.
