Hey. I have Norton AntiVirus 2005 and one of my friends told me that the reason my computer is running so slow is that Norton is constantly doing a system scan in the background. Is this true?

I have Norton too. It pops up when doing a system scan and to add this, it does only a system scan when you do it manually or at the prescribed schedule.

I use norton 2005 and I like it. It does not slow down my computer and it boots up fast everyone says it's a resource hog but I just dont see it!

I've herad that McAfee is worse then norton. Personally, i think norton is very good, only downside is that it uses up alot of system resources, which could be why your computer is running slow, since it uses multiple processes and it is a memory hog.

What do you mean by a memory hog? I am running nav2005 and it might use 10mb of ram unless I am doing a scan, as far as system resources I just dont see it my computer boots right up and runs just as fast with it as it does with out it. Now when I had nav2004 that was a whole other story it slowed my computer down alot so I never had it running in the background I only used it for a scan every now and then!
