hi folks
this morning i tried running a norton scan, it would not work.
then up popped a message, to uninstall, and, install.
after completion everything was normall, so please would someone explainto me what happened

I'm suggesting, there were some corrupted modules that would only require a re-install, just like Symantec Security client 10, a simple problem will require a whole install.
But why not set it to auto schedule a scan ?

What version of Norton are you running? May I recommend Symantic Corporate Ed (same company that makes norton products just better IMHO).
