i didnt know how much it has slowed down my computer until recently it start giving me bsods, after i uninstalled it and installed avast my computer is 2x faster than before xD either avast is crap or norton is just taking way too many resources.
 
Norton hoggin up resources has always been one of it's issues. It's good that you switched. It's better this way, you don't have to waste all your resources and pay norton it's yearly renewal fee. :)
 
norton is renowned for slowing pcs down i dont know about advast but avg also free is very good combined with zonealarm firewall also free
 
I use AVG and Zonealarm, free versions. I have no complaints. I also use E-Trust Patrol which I recommend.
 
That's why I hate Norton. It really slows down your computer. Btw avast in my opinion is the best antivirus you can find.
 
i chose between kapersky and avast. i found the latter first.

the reason i switch was the bsods and not cuz of the slowdown because norton always finds trojans when i'm using usenet. so far after switching i have not detect any viruses or trojans just spyware cookies.

i can get the etrust armor thing cuz is free to rr customers.
 
it depends on the Norton product and setting you use, I use Norton corporate edition on my slow pc 600Mhz and it runs smoothly. I suggest disabling your antivirus when you use excessive processes like playing games and enable it if you surf the net or insert disk on your drive
 
Avast! is not crap. Avast! antivirus can detect more viruses than norton, and it doesn't take too many resources.
