Not Booting Up

Hi,

I have a friends computer to try and fix and I am completly lost with this one, I think the hard drive may be shot, but who knows.

I turn it on, then after about 10 seconds, mid way through the boot up, it says something like, cannot locate boot disk, place insert disk into Drive A or CD-Rom.

I put the Windows disk in and it loads up like to reformat or repair and it says cannot find any hard disks?

Any ideas?

Sounds to me to be a classic HDD problem, try putting the hard drive in your Computer and booting from the windows disc, if you can see the Hard Drive from there then it is something else but it seems like it would most likely be the Hard Drive is buggered.

I thought it mighta crashed, but how do I go about trying to get it to run again?

My hard drive used to do it, then it wouldnt work for ages then would jst work again.

I look forward to replies
