Not enough power?

i kno there is a thread pinned about PSU, but i dont quite understand.

i m going to do a AMD 64 3000+ , raid SATA, 1GB ram dual channel, and a X800 set up and i m going to get a enermax with V rating of these

i want to ask whats the difference between 12V1 and 12V2? and as the pined thread say , 18A is for low range, does it mean this PSU is not for x800? sorry for my extreme noobiness.
 
well there's 18A on each of the 12V rails with a combined power of 36amps, which is way more than enough for your pc.
 
no, you have to spread the load across both of the rails in order to get the 36 amp rating from the 12V supply. its important to do that to ensure that the system operates correctly
 
it depends on which molex you plug into the back (providing it has a power connection).
if it doesn't it'll draw its power from the motherboard which uses the strongest rail
 
yeah, if you pay attention to the power leads you should be able to balance the loads (roughly) across both rails. you'll probably have to take a look at your PSU's manual to do this
 
ok coool , i downloaded the manual :D, didnt really say much but i get the point :D, so this should be fine running my system?

yeah but that's probably cause you only have 1 12v rail and your motherboard, hd, cd, fans are all using the 18A. But in his case, if he spreads the load evenly, he can have almost the entire 18A to his gpu.
 
i hope i can do it with just 1 12V rail jsut to the gfx card, my mate is willing to let me test it on his x800GTO on my Pc, lets hope i wont kill it
