Not even a beep code

It freezes at the packard bell screen. It is an old rig and I hadn't turned it on for a while. Was fine for a few days and then.. this.

Maybe change the cmos battery and clean the motherboard? Dunno why theres no beep code though.

Changing the battery won't do accomplish anything. Most likely it could be a bad hard drive, try unhooking every thing not needed to boot and see if continues to post. If not, then reset the cmos by unplugging power from power supply, remove the cmos battery, press the power button on the case a few times to discharge power and then wait 5 minutes. Then reinsert battery, and reconnect power and try booting up.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunatley it didn't work. Before I replace the motherboard which is almost certainly the problem I was considering getting one of these, but am worried it is a scam due to its cheapness.
