Not getting full connection

One minute its fine. then it goes off.When i try to conect to my wireless.Mine never shows up on the list.Loads of others do.After a while mine shows up.Then i click on it And theres only one bar to the conection.I got the modem off a neighbour.Aparently his other neighbour used to connect to it when his was ristricted( for not paying his bill) Its really annoying me.I keep wondering if this other neighbour is tapping into my conection.Can it happen this? me losing conectiion?
 
If you only have one bar for signal then that is the issue. How far away are you from the modem/router?
 
Are you using a usb wireless adapter? If so, those can be very troublesome and you should get a pci wireless card if you have a desktop pc. Pci wireless cards are more reliable.

However, I would check signal strength with another wireless device. Do you know of anyone with a wireless laptop that could come over and check signal for you?
