umm how'd u kill it? did you overvolt it at all? that chip might handle those clocks, and also did you step it up 3-5mhz like overclocking 101 suggests? test the parts... it may not be the processor.
it's got to be, i've replaced everything else it acts weird though, it will initiate setup, load the first batch of files, but when it never gets to the portion of the install where you format the drive etc, just freezes at a blank screen. i've replaced everything, ram, mobo, drives, lol oh well. any reccomendations on a 939 chip? cheap?
well, what exactly did you do to it?
basically theres 5 types of 939 chips..
semprons, i think all 939's are 64-bit
athlon 64's
athlon 64 X2's
opteron's (more stable, underclocked, undervolted athlon 64, 1mb L2 cache enabled)
opteron dual cores (more stable, underclocked, undervolted, athlon 64 X2, all with full L2 cache enabled)
Im not sure, i know it doesnt nativly, but they offer BIOS flashes to allow AMD Dual-Core CPU's. They may have a BIOS flash for Opterons, or they may make one in the future.
yes, yes i did. i really have no idea what it could be if it is not the processor. I seriously have changed or checked everything else in other machines.
duno what to tell you dude... just test it with other components that you know are operational... say from a friends comp? i always use parts from my dad's comp whenever testing...
and also, did you GROUND yourself? computer parts are VERY sensitive to static electricity, even if you don't feel a shock it could've paralyzed a component!
to ground myself i normally 1. dont wear socks, 2. dont walk on a rug and 3. touch the computer case or power supply before i touch a computer part.
