Not recognising boot CD

Ok. I have just fininshed putting together my new computer, and turn it on. After a while it tells me there's no boot CD, and to insert one. Fair enough, so I put in my XP cd to install. Press enter. Wait roughly 10 seconds, I get the same message as before.

I'm not too sure why this is happening, but the cd drive is definately being picked up by the motherboard. I'm hoping i've just overlooked something, and there's nothing actually wrong.

Any thoughts people?

either it's the cd ruined
or you just have to go to the BIOS and set the CD-ROM as a first boot device

I went through the BIOS and set the CDROM as Primary boot, but the same is happening. Is there anything else, at all, that could be causing this, apart from a dead CD?

I'm looking and, well, I can't tell. It's an OEM version of XP Pro.

Edit: Seems it was the CD drive. Pinched one from my old comp, hopefully the new one will work after the installation.
