Not sure my HDD is running at proper speed..

When I try to open files on my Western 200G SATA drive they sometimes take a few seconds to connect, like 4 seconds, I'm running a G of ram and my cpu's at 2.4, so I think there's something slowing me down.

Anyone have any advice/tips for optimizing the running of a SATA drive?
 
Defrag's been done, there's not much info on there as I've only just built the thing.. Could there be any settings I've got on in the bios which would slow it do you think?
 
Archangel, I haven't had it on the internet yet, so I doubt there's any spyware on board ;)

Maybe.. it seems to go quickly sometimes, then other times it slows right down.
 
I have the same problem sometimes,where the hard drive seems to take it's sweet time,I have no idea what causes it.

This is a little off topic janus,but i was wondering if you oc your cpu with any luck?
 
have you searched fo drivers of the HD?
and maybe you should look for a newer version of the Firmware in the HD ;)
