not sure of my new computer ... opinions asked

I'm new to this forum and I have a question:

I mainly work in Photoshop CS5 and I do some video editing ( Full HD - 90 minutes) to...

I want to buy the following :

I7 980x Extreme

Asus Sabertooth x58 Mobo

Corsair DDR3 Triple channel 1600 Mhz, 24 GB

OCZ vertex2 240GB x2 ( raid 0 ) ( used as C: drive )

Western digital Caviar Black 2TB x4 ( raid 5 )

Corsair 800 case....

is this a good set up or should i buy an other Mobo.... DDR ...

just share your thoughts.

My only advice to you is buy a cheaper CPU.. With a motherboard like that you can buy a $200 processor with a thermo electric cooler and easily overclock it to $1000 speeds

That's a a very good build but you could get away with something cheaper... your choice.
 
Intel is launching a whole new platform in ~9 days. Before you spend $1000 on a CPU I would consider waiting/researching to see what SandyBridge would have to offer you.

Apart from that prices are likely to fall on older models. But if you don't care about the cost then this build is great.
 
CPU Cooler ? DDR with Cooler ?

Which cpu cooler should I choose ? I love the Prolimatech mega ....or i s watercooling better ?

Should I choose for faster DDR 3 ? or is de XMS 1600Mhz just fine ??
 
The Megahalems is a good cooler, no worries there. :good:

1600MHz RAM is perfectly fine. 24GB is pretty ridiculous, but for full HD movies with lots of plugins going I can maybe see it being useful. Best deal on the market right now would be two of these kits with the promo code, which takes off $80 total.

The importance here for rendering is your cpu which you'll have no issue doing at all. 24 Gigs is overkill. Go with 16 gigs and invest that money into a high end video card.

But as BillOhio says if you can afford 24 gigs then the cost of a high end video card shouldn't be an issue.
