Not sure which NVIDIA graphics card to buy for my system using Windows 7.

I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra graphics card, but I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, and now my screen is too bright, and I was told by NVIDIA that no Brightness adjuster exists in the NVIDIA Control Panel for this card under Windows 7, even with the latest driver for this series of cards. My monitor brightness is already set to zero, so I now need to replace my graphics card with one that's compatible with Windows 7. Could you please help me choose the card that's the closest in every way to my current card, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra? I only need it to be compliant with my system and Windows 7, but otherwise I don't want to pay too much for something too superior. I only need the Brightness control to return to the NVIDIA Control Panel. Information on my system:

System Manufacturer: Tyan Computer Corporation
System Model: S2668 Tiger i7505
BIOS: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0
Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.06GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
 
Yes, no Win7 driver. :( I'm bad at NVIDIA for not programming one.

Unfortunately, the way I have to have the display set now, to not be too bright, is to turn the Gamma and colors down, which produces a sort of ugly desaturated gray appearance all throughout, which is bad since I'm a graphic artist who uses Photoshop! XD

I mainly use it for Photoshop and word processing, and sometimes 3ds max.

Whatever card would be cheap, Win7-compliant, and pretty much do what this card did would be awesome!=) I just don't know what works in my system, so I wanted to ask here before I do it. A link to a newegg card that would be compatible would be great for me!XD

Have you tried the Vista driver? It should work just fine.

Wait a second... Can you explain what you mean by "Brightness"? You mention that you have turned your monitor's brightness all the way down already. This is the primary place to look for screen brightness as I first understood you. I would have then mentioned that you then adjust the gamma settings in the drivers, as you have apparently done already. These two functions alone should give you the desired results. Why would you turn down the color values on top of that???

Any video card made in the past couple of years is going to be Win7 compliant provided the manufacturer has at least Vista compatible drivers for it. I am really curious to know what sort of brightness adjustment you had with the old driver that you are missing now.

we need to know what slot your video card is first, PCI, AGP, or PCIe

then I would recommend anything in the 8000 series or higher for nVidia, and the 3000 series or higher for ATI

In which way? I mean it's pretty much impossible to draw a direct comparison between cards that gap 5 generations. I'm just saying that literally any card out there would work well with a workstation like that.

I also e-mailed NVIDIA my question, and they pointed me to a list of cards that work with Win7:

So would the oldest card on that list, GeForce 6100, be as good as my GeForce FX 5950 Ultra card? I'm interested in the oldest one because I assume it'll be the cheapest and also the closest to my old card (from about 5 years ago!), so it should do what my card does and fit in my system and with my motherboard or whatever. Please let me know.
