Not updating

Hey guys,
I'm trying to update one of my computers. Its an older pentium 4 computer so nothing specail but whenever I shut the computer down it says installing 1 of 1. I checked the update log and it keeps trying to instal windows net frame 1.1... I already have service pack 2 and net frame 2.0 installed. Also when I try to open Windows update to install it manually it checks my computer then says to click either express or custom. I've tried express and custom and they both come up with internet explorer cannot display the webpage. This is a legit version of windows.

stop the service : automatique updates

delete the folder software update in c:\windows

start the service automatique update

try a manually update in microsoft

The first there would be going into the add/remove programs in the Control Panel and checking off the "show all updates" box. Remove 2.0 there followed by going to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Browse.aspx?displaylang=en

The link there is for browsing all MS downloads where you will find the 1.1 redistributable below the 2.0 and newer 3.0, 3.5 updates. Remember to save the dotnetfx.exe file to a custom folder you create first as well as the other updates to have onhand.

Each will go back on quickly in their respective order. Certain things however still require the earlier releases.
