i've heard rumors on this board and was just curious if anything has been confirmed by amd... i've checked their website and haven't found anything...

word is that we are going to sell the "turion 64 x2" at best buy, i have no idea when though....i look forward to finding out

You should check out the Core Duo, its a really good processor. It also does extremely well at gaming.

well to tell you the truth i was considering a dell latitude d820 configured similar to your e1505 except mine has a 256MB (on board) Quadro GFX card (up to 512MB turbocache). but i was just wondering if it was gonna be soon or will i have to wait for a while? i'm planning on putting in my order for that dell around the start of may and if amd will have their dual core out by at least july i'll wait...

Personally i would wait and see if they get the conroe in laptops, that would be an amazing processor.

then should i just buy a cheap laptop for however long it takes until something better shows up? or buy that latitude and just forget the rest?

well see i dont know when there coming out, if at all for laptops. So i guess i would just buy a decent one now, then upgrade later when it becomes fairly outdated.

yeah i know that... but i was wondering if they were planning on any notebook specific (like intel's core duo) cpu's anytime soon...

conroe is a desktop proc.
i heard of something called merom? i duno maybe that'll be for laptops.
HAHA put an FX-60 in a laptop. thats funny... get like... 2 12cell lithium ions drained in an hour. lolol
funny thing, because dual core AMD's use less power then pentium 4's, now that i check :)

HAHA the X2 used less wattage in full load than the P4 did idle... now thats funny. lol.
of course, neither are notebook procs.
