I was wondering if there are any upgrades I can get for my compaq presario v5000 like a cpu upgrad and a video card if you can get these does anyone know

Newer laptops are becomming more and more upgradable. A while back, they didn't even use socket processors like desktop, but rather a little board. Some current laptops actually have sockets. My laptop actually has a socket 754. Now, I've never tried upgrade mine, so I'm not sure if it's limted to "laptop" processor, or if you could use some other processor.

I know my processor is located under the same flap that you remove to access the RAM. Most probably aren't, but I'd look around to see if I could expose where it probably is. Once there, it's pretty obvious if it's a similar socket to a desktop, or something totally different.

Another drawback to laptops is what processors they can use. Normally the bios support is rather limited. Technically, my laptop could run a Turon 64. However, this is only acheived with unofficial bios flashes and stuff like that...

Interesting I do you think that my processor has a socket S1 since its a amd turion 64 so I was wondering if I could upgrade it to a amd x2 turion

It might... I actually havn't heard of that particular socket. Now I'm wondering if mine is actually 754 of if CPUz is reading it wrong :P Hehe. But there's only one way to be sure... Rip that beast open(or find someone else who has)

well, there are many AMD athlon64 mobile that are all socket 754, so i think most laptops nowadays may even have 939,am2, and those intel sockets (i cant remember tham right now.)

A little info on Socket S1
Socket S1 is the CPU socket type used by AMD for their Turion 64 and Athlon 64 Mobile processors, which debuted with the dual core Turion 64 X2 CPUs on May 17, 2006. Socket S1 has 638 pins, and replaces the existing Socket 754 for laptops. It has been expected that desktop motherboards will appear using Socket S1, much as boards using the Pentium M's Socket 479 are on the market.
