Notebook display problems

Hey everyone,

Just got my first laptop, it is an Asus Z63A. But not 24 hours after I got it I seem to be having my first problem with it (it worked find the first 4 times I turned it on). I turned it on and there is a three inch wide blank strip down the display. Everything is moved over. It is almost like the display forgot it was widescreen and instead is acting like a normal monitor (not covering the whole screen). Anyone know what could be the problem? I have no idea. I really appreciate any help. Thank you.

P.S. I hooked it up to another monitor to see if the blank strip was there also but it wasn't. When the curser on the notebook display hit the black strip it went to monitor 2.

Hey elmarcorulz,

No, nothing on the outside to change the display position. But there is a software setting I have found. I would right-click on the desktop, select Graphics options, and Panel fit. But it already has 'Full screen (no boarder)' selected and it does not do anything when I select another option.
 
Yes, I could change it if I really wanted. But when I tried.. it did nothing. Even when I move the curser to the blank strip.. the curser stops. Just like what would happen if you moved your curser all the way to the end of the screen. The only difference is I should have more screen and for some reason now it has changed.

turned it off (it was perfect) I then turn it back on... its like the picture.
 
Go back into the option for "full screen" and de-select it. Click Apply and ok and close the properties. Go back into it and re-select the "full screen" option and see if it will go back. (will sometimes help with problems like that)
 
make sure you have the latest drivers. go to display and see if there is an option for preserve wide aspect ratio. what video card does it have?
 
does the laptop have a function key or an fn key?? if it does, try holding down the fn or function key and press f7. On a dell laptop, doing so makes the screen change sizes...maybe something got pressed by accident. also try consulting the manual...it could simply be a function your computer is supposed to have. check the website too and look for help there.
 
Thanks everyone for responding. I don't know what caused the problem but I reinstalled the video drivers and that has fixed it.

I bet your resolution got changed. Probly to something like 800x600, or anything non widescreen. Laptop displays dont stretch an image to fit the screen, you have to have it set to the right resolution to get it to full screen.

its been fixed
 
1. Right-Click on DEsktop, go to Setting ==> Advance ==> look there must be a setting name ==> Panel Fit.

2. Install the correct display drivers.

Usually "it's fixed" means it's fixed.
 
Nice hoome buddy......how many systems do u own.....a X86 a celeron 2.4 Ghz a P4 Northwood..... here is a centrino ???????????? u look really rich .....I am looking for a cheap 2nd hand system..:)

I own roughly 20+ systems.
