Nothing's Damaged...right?

Hey
I just tested my peripherals using the paperclip trick and now that I have taped it, I plugged everything back in. Buuuut.... with me there always must be an issue. As soon as I plugged the 20 pin (before the 4 pin extension) the lights and fans started flickering and slightly spinning. The PSU was off, so I unplugged the PSU to make sure that that wasn't the problem. It wasn't... it just kept flickering. I noticed it flickered EXACTLY once per second and I wondered if the CMOS was doing it. So I unplugged the 20 pin and waited 5 minutes. I plugged it back in and I nothing happened.

Did I damage anything?

IT should have not done anything if you havent pressed the power button yet.... Mabey somthing is bypassed?

im sorry i was meaning your fans should have not turned on until you press the power button so You MIGHT have done something but im not really sure.

ATX power supplies are never really off, unless they have a on/off switch on the back switched off, or its unplugged. Dont be unplugging and plugging up components unless (power supply) is unplugged.

lol unplugged you mean not upplugged

I thought that acted as a ground? And it was switched off, too.

Doesn't matter if it's switched off, there's always power going through the power supply to the components. That's why some mouse are still lit up when your computers off. Heck, one of my portable hard drive still spins if I leave it plugged in.

WTF?! Who told me that it was a ground? Maybe I dreamt that or something, and thought Bill Gates told me to do that.
