Notices about Firefox not being current from other one line services

My daughter is trying to take an online test and the website says we need Firefox 6.0+, but I see Firefox 44.1 when I check. This isn’t the first time this has happened, sometimes its YouTube and then there are other websites that say the same thing.

What can I do to fix this? I just reinstalled Firefox a few weeks ago when I was having issues with Photobucket.

I just tried to download Firefox 6, but it failed and I think its because I'm using Win10

My daughter was in a hurry so I let her use my Lap top with Win 7 and it worked just fine.

I may have to get rid of Firefox and Palemoon because they have been nothing but trouble since I changed to Win 10

Yah, Firefox was my go to browser for a long time, then every little annoyance started happening and I got fed up and switch to Chrome for 95% of my time

Firefox 6 is from what, 2011?

It sounds like the app doesn't identify the browser string correctly.
Is it? Wow no wonder it wouldn't install when i tried to install it. LOL
I'm pretty sure I have the latest version of Firefox on the Win10 machine and I believe its the same version on the Win7 Laptop. The website doesn't know that I have Win 10 either because it lists the OS as unknown. Oh well My daughter is still taking the test on the Win7 Laptop so it may very well be Win10 that's causing the problem.

Sounds like the website has some jacked up user agent sniffing code. With Pale Moon that has been a problem, especially with YouTube and Facebook videos. You can change the UA in Pale Moon to fix those issues. I would go to the Pale Moon forum and see the threads there.

You can try the UAControl addon for Firefox and add this useragent:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0
Do you really need an addon? You used to be able to set that in about:config

Yeah, I think you can do that. There are also other UA options for independent sites in about:config as well. Like for Facebook and YouTube.
