Just read about that new GTS (92) and now I'm stuck on what to get, again >_<

I heard the new GTS beats the GT by a bit, but does it beat the KO or SSC versions of the GT? And if not, should I get the new GTS instead of either the KO or SSC GT?
 
First of all, welcome to the forums! :)

Heres my answer:

8800GTS 512MB > Any 8800GT > 8800GTS 320MB/640MB

But from my point of view, it is NOT a good idea to spend up to $70 more just for an overclocked version of a card in this example the SSC...

Heres an example:

Regular EVGA 8800GT - best deal

$70 just for a bit of overclock is insane!!! in that case you're better off with the new 8800GTS 512MB

But the new GTS is $100 more and it doesn't have more core clock or core memory than the SSC GT.

Plus this is my christmas present so I just want the best quality for my dad's money :P

Yeah, but core clock and core memory don't mean the card is worse, it is actually better (8800GTS 512MB > 8800GT SSC)

But the best deal is, as hermeslyre said, the regular 8800GT
 
If you have the money, then you should just go for the 8800GTS(92). But if you are low on the budget, then go for the 8800GT who happens to be an excellent card.
 
Yep, exactly what Zangetsu said.

If you are on a budget the stock 8800GT is your best choice, if not get a 8800GTS 512MB
