Nub dual screen question????

I currently have dual screen set up, I was juss simply wondering, does having a second monitor cloning my primary monitor stress or use more of the video cards resources????
 
Yes, but it shouldnt really affect you unless your gaming or something.

You will see the pro's of having 2 monitors outweigh the con's. I have had 2 monitors for I think 3 years now and hate my schools single monitors. Ill never go back.
 
I have to agree, I enjoy having the space of two monitors. You wont really notice any lack in performance that i've noticed. I've used dual monitor setups for about 4-5 years now. I really think they are convenient.
 
I use dual montiors and i must give you some advice, dont get monitors different sizes lol, i have a 19" and a 17" :)

And the difference is bad, i cant move my mouse into the next monitor right at the bottom of the 19" coz of the size difference and *sigh* its very annoying, still, its dual monitors and it owns the world!
 
Sorry to tack on another question but seeing the title (Nub...) I thought it fit well in this thread.

I'm looking to add another monitor at home now since I have dual monitors at work and am addicted. I think I got everything I need to know except am slightly confused by the difference between cloned and expanded. I just want to make sure I am right on my ideas about both.

Expanded allows you to drag apps from one screen to another. I could have Word open on one monitor and firefox open on another.

Cloned means that I only really have control of one monitor but whatever I do on that monitor that other monitor does the same? So its just like another display? I see the benefits of expanded but cloned I don't understand (besides presentations). Thanks.
 
There is hardly any difference, and no noticeable decrease in performance when using dual monitors. 3dmark 06 single monitor score: 12104, dual monitor score 12098, so as you can see, only 6 points in it. I also ran FEAR benchmark utility and there was 2 fps in it.
 
RJ: cloned basically copies your main screen and puts it on another. Good for presentations when you need to see your slide without turning to look at the projector.
Expanded is just what you thought, it stretches your resolution over to another monitor.
