Nvidia 6600 on XP 64 bit??

I have windows XP Pro 32 bit running:

Nvidia GeForce 6600
AMD Tri-Core Phenom 8750
2 GB RAM

I Just installed the game portal and now it is crashing on a certain level. Updating the newest driver makes it crash right away. I want to try and see if Windows XP 64 bit bit will make any improvements in my performance.

Does anyone know if I will be able to use this graphics card with 64 bit?

Anyone have a similar problem with a game such as Portal?
 
I'm sure 64-bit will work fine with that card but you might experience some more issues than you're having now with 64-bit, not sure. I'd guess it's simply outdated card, I'm not sure of the system requirements of Portal, but that'd be my best guess.

Try updating all your drivers starting with chipset, ethernet, audio and then video, see where that gets ya.

Going to XP 64 isnt going to help your problem, could end up with more than you have now. Since the 6600 is a older card, have you tried a older driver instead of the newer ones.
