Which of the two cards the 8800GT or the 8800GTS has a better bang for the buck.
As which brand do u recommend

Thanks for the Help

I think you are wrong there, the stock heatsink on a 8800GTS 512mb G92 is better then that of a 8800GT G92 if I am not mistaking?

I'll search benchtemps later.

I'd recommend getting the GTS, it isn't that much more, it's well worth it. The cooler is better and you can OC them pretty well, I have mine @ 800/2000/1000. I'm sure I could go higher, but I haven't tried.

Either the GT or GTS....i suppose you would be able to OC the GTS more but tbh unless your planning on running crysis very high then both these cards can handle pretty much anything else you throw at it at default settings.

just go round dannys house and nick his ;) :D

well ive seen the XFX 8800GTS Alpha Dog
what do u guys think of it, it supossied to be an OC beast?

i dont know how well it OC but im sure it would be great,if you realy want a GTS then get a PNY like dannys....Kornowski as he has his OC pretyy well :)

Sorry to go off topic but if your going to game you will probably need some more ram than 1gb.
is your Athlon dual core?

Bulzeye, everything you need to know for sure is that that 8800GTS is the 512mb version. The 320mb or the 640mb version are no good at all nowadays, please make sure you have the 512 megabyte version!

DISCLAIMER-If you don't buy the 512mb but instead of that you buy the 320/640, you're a complete idiot... SO THERE, it had to be said.

Haha! Erm... I actually feel like throwing my computer out the window at the moment, so if he wants it in little pieces, that's fine!

Yeah, PNY are good, I've got my clocks pretty high. But I'm sure that it'd be possible on most GTS'. You could OC a GT, but not as much, certainly more than a stock GTS.

got it timo
arnt the 320/640mb like older versions?

Yup, You're right.
The 320 / 640MB cards use the old G80 Core, The new 512MB ones use the G92 Core, which is much better!

8800GT does not perform better then a 8800GTS G92 version, though it will flatten the 8800GTS G80 version with ease...
