i recently bought a 9800GT from a friend for £120. It was working fine until i decided to turn of the computer. the other day i turned it on and the screen didn't turn on. i have checked wires and checked BIOS and in another computer.

can anyone tell me what went wrong when i turned the computer off. and/or how to fix it.

The card hadn't been unscrewed. and the side of the case had not been removed since the card was bought.

The power supply is.
GEANTech JNP~350p and its a 350w. which is recommended from the cards manual.

Pleas help i just bought farcry 2:confused:

Remove the video card and reset the BIOS. This should reset the default back to the onboard graphics if you had to disable it. Reinstall the video card or try it on a different computer. It could just be a bad GPU. If it still doesn't start when you turn it on it is most likely the PSU. 350W is pretty weak for an 8800GT, especially at 10A and 13A on 2 12V rails.

Your P/S is pretty weak for a 9800GT, doesnt have enough amps. on the 12V rail. It only has one 10 and one 13 Amp rail. And you dont just add them together. I would say it only has around 17 or 18 amps total the the 12V rail, if that.

Yup, its more than likely the power supply. I would try getting another power supply, at least a decent 430watt such as an antec earthwatts or such, or something with at least 25A on the 12v rails.

Well, does the computer make any noise when you turn it on? If it's only the video card that's broken, the HDD would still spin, as well as fans correct? Yes I would definitely recommend a new PSU. PC Power & Cooling and Corsair make some good models that often have mail in rebates. Check the Corsair VX450.
