nVidia Geforce 200 MX Driver Installation Problems

This GPU is an onboard on the Compaq Evo D510, and I have tried several different drivers from HP, nVidia, and others, with no success. The machine used to have XP and Ubuntu on it before I wiped it, and I put XP SP3 on it after that. I installed the drivers my friend used with success, all but the GPU driver worked. The problem is that I would install the driver using the one my friend gave me, and after I installed it I would restart, but the driver didn't install. The resolution is 640x480 4 bit color, needless to say it's awful. I have tried installing the driver manually, only to have it say that it wasn't the right one. In the Device Manager, the GPU is listed as a Unknown VGA controller. The display adapter is listed as VGASave, which is the XP emergency display driver. There is nothing wrong with the GPU, as I have booted from my Ubuntu CD without an issue.
The other drivers I have downloaded all say in the setup that my hardware isn't compatible with the driver.
If all fails, there is an AGP slot in the unit, so suggestions on a decent card that would run AOE3 would be appreciated.

They are all a bit out of my budget, though it is amazing that you can get 1 GB AGP GPUs for $80 USD.
I'm running AOE3 on a 256 MB nVidia Geforce 7300GT on med settings, runs pretty ok. Though I think I'll be able to upgrade soon :D
I'll look on newegg for stuff, thanks for reminding me, I keep forgetting about them :).
Though if you have any other good deals with a VGA port I'm listening.
