Hey I just went in to buy an nvidia geforce 8800gt for $135 because my friend told me this was a good video card and I got convinced to buy this EVGA 512mb 9800 gtx instead.

It cost $180 which was more than I wanted to spend but the guy was telling me it was half off blah blah blah and I caved. I'm just wondering if you guys think I made the right choice or if I should exchange it for the 8800 gt or even get a whole new better/different card for the money?

Thanks for the feedback in advance.

Also I bought it for my computer which it doesn't fit in cause it's massive but thats ok because my computers older and I was thinking about building my first computer anyways. This is the first piece I've bought so any other suggestions of things to buy for my new rig would be appreciated!

Um.. if you're going for the GTX model, go find yourself the GTX+ model. It's around the same price but it's supposingly better.

exchange it for an ati hd4850... the reason for the drastic price drop in the 9800gtx is because of how overpriced it was in the first place, and how the 4850 beat it even though it was less that $200

It is the 9800 gtx + version that I have. Is there a big difference? Sorry I don't know much about these things.

in legit Reviews they did a head to head test of the two cards. The 4850 wins in some things but overall, the 9800 GTX wins more tests. Here is the full article, they test about 20 different games and apps.

the 9800 GTX is about $190 right now.
the 4850 is about $160 right now.

Yep, like everyone said, stick with the 9800GTX+ It is better. But later on if you want to upgrade from that, go with the HD 4870 OR HD 4870X2
