Hi, few days ago I bought lenovo ideapad b5030 with CPU intel pentium quad core N3540 2,16 GHz boost up to 2,54 GHz, nvidia 820m 1gb GPU, 4gb RAM.. I installed W 8.1 pro 64bit and all drivers directly from lenovo site (they are all up to date).. everything is working perfectly except I can't play ANY game (even old ones).. I can start the game and all, but it is so slow and lagging.. is there anything i should of installed besides drivers? I should mention that I installed windows in Legacy support, not UEFI.. can that be a problem, although I dont think that it is?

What games specifically? None of your specs are really powerful at all.

Every game.. games I used to play on AND dual core with integrated graphic 2gb ram with no lagging

your video card is one that I have not heard of, but when it comes to nvidia, if the last two numbers are 20 it's going to be a low-end card. for desktops the lowest you can get these days is a 650 1gb, which sounds a lot better than your 820. I think that's why gamers usually stick to desktops, unless it's an alienware laptop, or at least a high-end one. Most laptops aren't really made for gaming.

I'm not a gamer, I just like to play an occasional game.. I played south park stick of truth on previous laptop that I mentioned earlier and nba 2k13 and that is it. Those games are not so demanding.. there was no problem on that laptop.. I think that this GPU as bad as it is, still is better than amd integrated.. it should be working fine. And I was watching some youtube videos of people playing some far more demanding games with that GPU on medium or low settings

You've got one of two things going on most likely.

GPU drivers aren't installed for you 820M. Go get them directly from Nvidia.
The dedicated GPU, the 820M, is probably not getting switched to when you try and play a game. If your drivers installed I can tell you how to fix this but first make sure you have you drivers done.

Also make sure your laptop is plugged in when gaming and in high performance mode, not battery saving.
The 820M isn't fantastic but you should be able to play even some newer games on low settings. It's a bit slower than the 740M in my laptop and I can play a lot of older games maxed out easily. Dirt 3 for example is playable on med-high easily. You've got a problem, your specs should be okay for your uses.

I've uninstalled old drivers and installed directly from nvidia already. I also already set energy menager to performance mode, not battery saver mode but nothing was better. That is why I wrote this thread. So how do set it to switch to nvidia?

I've installed the newest drivers from nvidia, but it felt weird so I downloaded ''DriverScaner'' and turns out that that driver was ''ancient''.. I downloaded and installed the driver that program was telling me, and now everything is fine, even nba 2k15 works perfectly on high.. but thanks anyways

Oh crap sorry totally forgot to check back on this. Glad you got it figured though!
