Nvidia GF 8400 GS problem

Hi,

I have:

p4 2.6ghz
1gb Ram
nvidia geforce 8400 gs
windows xp OS

When I play older games like Nocturne, Startopia, Klingon Honor Guard, I get strange flickering horizontal lines during fullscreen gameplay. Windowed the lines are not present. I was wondering if anyone had this problem or could give me some help on how to fix it.

Yes the drivers are the latest.

I've tried rolling the vid drivers back,
reinstalling the programs,
switching video modes (resolution, bitrate)

I'm assuming it has something to do with the use of xp with these older programs, and i've tried changing those compatablility setting via the shortcuts to the programs to no avail (98, 2000, me)

In game, the lines appear at the menu screens, but are not present in the gameplay itself, i.e. in startopia the lines are all flickering at the New game, Save game menu, but after you enter the game everything looks spectacular and no issues.

looks normal to me. it might be your monitor acting up...

EDIT: Oh i must be blind... looks like a driver issue, but it could be hardware related also.

I hooked up to several monitors both old, new, flatscreen, but I'm sorry to say it's still there. Anymore thoughts or suggestions? I just updated to April 2010's drivers as well. Maybe I should ask Nvidia? lol

It's been months but I've found a solution.

Setting the hardware acceleration in sound and audio device properties to None or Basic cleans up those lines.
