Nvidia GTX580 Thread

I've been out of it for a while, last time I looked at video cards the latest were the 2xx series, haha

That's not not a bad thing :P
Most of the 4** series were hot and hungry, now nVidia have done something right at least

That'll be mega-upgrade over 5770, your CPU would bottleneck it

I'd be happy with one too:o
Still beats a HD5850 in most things, and 5850 beats GTX460 1GB most of the time

Indeed, any CPU would bottleneck it, especially overclocked

Doubt an i7-980X would

You are underestimating graphics cards, or overestimating CPUs. GPUs are vastly more powerful than a CPU is, even a 980x ;)

Though to be honest, the argument isn't, a 980x will be maxing out any games when paired with a GTX580, as will my 720BE, so bottleneck or not, it won't affect performance noticeably at all.

And I'm not getting a GTX580 :P I don't have the best question to ask and as much as I'm good at CoD4, I'm the worst player to have ever played the CoD games compared to the serious, serious gamers, of which there will be a fair few there I'd imagine

yea...i dunno if crysis is a legitimate benchmark anymore...but thats me. i am becoming a tad sickened by hearing it made the standard...when theres other things people can possibly use that are newer...and a better example of coding nowadays... then again not one game can really show how a card performs...*shrug*

Newegg has $50 off a GTX580 using this code: EMCZZYR24

I saw that and I was thinking I better jump on one before the price goes up eventually. However I do want to know what the new AMD cards can do whenever they come out.
