Nvidia + Starcraft 2 Beta = roasted card?

Well after months and months of waiting, I opened up my email and there it was, an invite to the Starcraft 2 Beta! After countless updates, I finally got on and about 10 minutes into the round, I noticed my fan was getting louder. 5 minutes after that, it was louder then when I max out Crysis. Another 5 minutes I couldn't take it anymore, quit, checked my GPU temp, 98 degrees celcius. I read somewhere that the beta was roasting Nvidia cards, so I guess it's true. So happy I'm picking up a 5850 this weeked. Anyone else experience this?

Have you replaced the tim on your card? That will probably knock 10 degrees off at load(provided you use good tim like mx2) I don't think my gtx 285's ever got that hot, even when I vmodded them and put them under furmark

Noob question, what's the tim on my card? I took it apart, blew out the dust and re-applied the thermal paste, made about a 2 degree difference. It doesn't matter though, I'm getting a 5850 and selling the 285 this weekend.

what kind of tim did you use?

Well, the notepad thing worked. So I waited 10+ years to play the first Starcraft with better graphics and a couple of new units? Boring.

Well I got a 5850, beats the crap out of the 285. And a guy wants to trade his 5870 for my 285, can't wait to crossfire these bad boys.
